About Retrogrades

Named after an illusion. Built on what’s real.

A retrograde is the sky’s great misdirection: the planet seems to move backwards, but nothing has reversed — only the observer’s vantage has changed. We named the company after that moment, because it is the moment understanding begins.

Why we exist

The software industry looks past the work we grew up around.

A practising astrologer trusted thirty-year-old desktop software because nothing newer had earned trust. A thriving astrology school was held together by machinery no course platform offered. A field agency ran its margin on WhatsApp forwards and a spreadsheet. A shop owner’s numbers lived on one PC he was never near.

Global software companies don’t build for this work. It is too specific, too vernacular, too Indian, too real. We think that is exactly backwards. The specificity is the opportunity — and the respect.

What we believe

Three convictions run through everything we ship.

Software should understand the work, not just display it. A tool that shows data is a filing cabinet. A tool that knows the domain — its conventions, exceptions and edge cases — is a colleague.

Trust must be engineered. Validation against references, reconciliation to the rupee, verification through independent paths. If we can’t prove it, we don’t claim it — in our products or on this website.

The user’s language is the product’s language. Hindi interfaces, Hinglish parsers, vernacular curriculum, voice conversations. Meeting people where they are isn’t a feature; it’s the point.

Where we’re going

Domain by domain.

We build each product the same way: enter a domain deeply, operate inside it where we can, encode what we learn, prove the correctness, and only then scale. Today that spans professional astrology, personal guidance, education, field operations and conversational accounting — with an applied-AI practice threading through them.

Tomorrow it will be another profession the software industry overlooked. There is no shortage of them.

The pattern was always there. We build the software that sees it.

Work with us. Or for us.

If you run one of these domains, we’d like to learn it. If you want to build software this way, we’d like to meet you.
